Geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain disruption & inflation, top risks for business leaders: Beazley

In today’s fast-changing global environment, there has been a sharp and rapid shift in how global leaders are prioritising risk, with geopolitical uncertainty, supply chain disruption and inflation becoming top concerns, a recent Beazley survey revealed.

Beazley logoThis new risk perception marks a significant change from seven months prior, in January 2025, and reshapes how businesses allocate resources, assess partnerships, and pursue growth in volatile markets.

The survey of 3,500 executives highlighted several areas of increasing concern for companies around the world, including political risk, damped growth ambitions, and disruption in the supply chain.

According to the survey, the number of leaders who believe the political landscape will affect their liability to trade profitably has jumped from 69% in January to 88% in August.

A majority of business leaders also feel that the current geopolitical and economic uncertainty will limit their growth plans. This sentiment increased to 83% in August, from 68% in January.

Additionally, in response to geopolitical tensions, 87% of businesses expect to adjust suppliers or supply chains due to geopolitical tensions, compared to 75% – an increase from January to August.

The survey also revealed how boardroom priorities have changed over the years, with plans to review overseas security increasing to 32% in 2025 compared to a 23% in 2024.

Macroeconomic instability was top of the agenda, with 26% of 2025 respondents stating this as their single greatest threat compared to a 21% in 2024.

Concerns about inflation were also on the rise. In 2025, 27% of leaders cited it as a top concern, up from 24% in 2024, with that number expected to rise to 28% by January 2026.
